Red White and Blue Birthday

Well, six months has come and gone. It's definitely true that time moves more swiftly as you grow older, and this last few months have flown. It's been great fun being on the Squigglefly Design Team and it's only fitting to finish with a red, white and blue salute! I'm doing a little bit of self-celebrating today 'cuz it's my birthday and I can!
I used the Paper Patterns Pack 1 background (Spring Flowers), changing the color to blue in PSP and accenting them with red jewel centers. For this occasion I just had to use my fave Magnolia Tilda and adorn her with a sprinkle of Petaloo flowers and more red "jewels", and coloring with Copic Markers. Please pop on over to the Squigglefly Blog and join in this Red White and Blue Challenge, if you can. Images are available at their store where there's always something new to play with. Want to try before you buy? There are some truly scrumptious freebies here for you to download so please come on over and jump in on the fun.

Remember, there's a new challenge every Monday, and with the next Design Teams ready to go you're sure to find lots more ideas to inspire you. I'm looking forward to "being challenged" by all these creative ladies. It's been a fun six months and I'm going to miss it.

Courting Edwin

Ladies, put a blush on your cheeks, take the shine off your noses, and get out your best party dresses. Edwin's come a'calling with his heart in his hand. Who knows who'll be the lucky lady? Maybe you? Maybe if - just if - your name was Tilda, would that help? Alas, I'm afraid you're all out of luck. It seems he's standing at Miss Tilda's door and, of course, she's expecting him!

Forgive me if I had a little too much fun with this, but I couldn't resist. Happy weekend to you all.

OWH Sketch Challenge #74

I'm working on a new batch of cards for OWH, so thought I'd get off to a good start with a card for this week's sketch challenge over at the blog. Nice, clean and simple sketch, perfect for an all-purpose card.
The sketch:

and here's the card:

Stacked Nesties, MS edge punch, a brad covered using my new i-Top tool, centered on a flower punched from the i-Top coordinating punch. I think I like this new product for making your own brads - just need a little more practice in order to get the desired effect, but isn't that what this craft's all about? Finding new treasures and trying new techniques? Else, where's the fun?

Happy Birthday, Bets!

Well, people can just be so impossible, you know? I started a birthday card for a favorite relative, to be mailed next month, when, without any warning at all, she up and let me know that the family is going on a month-long starting on the first. The big circle, from Nevada, up to Yellowstone and around to the coast, down through Oregon, then home again. Isn't that just peachy! Now I had to drop everything and finish her card asap! The nerve of some folks! How inconsiderate! or could it just be that I'm jealous of her gorgeous Motor Home and the planned trip? Yeah, you got it. Jealous, I am. But - I'll be gracious and get this card in the mail tomorrow so she won't think I've forgotten her.
So, here's to say, you're forgiven, Betsy,  I hope you have a wonderful trip.and a most happy, happy birthday!!!
Maybe you can take Tilda along on your journey. She likes to travel, too.

The DP is from SEI's With All My Heart pack, the ribbon, from RRR. The bling is from Magnolia along with Copic-colored Tilda holding her heart in her hands. See, she's begging to be taken on a road trip and I don't blame her! I want to go, too!!!

Some Sunshine on a Rainy Day

Leave it to Tilda to always bring sunshine wherever she goes. A light, late spring shower can't faze her, not when she's humming a happy tune.

I used an MS border punch and doily, RRR ribbon, my Nesties and Copics. The acrylic raindrops are from my stash, I paper-pieced her dress with PTI polka dot, covered her umbrella in pink glitter and laid it all on Bearly Mine DP. I made her for a card swap and now that it's been received, I can put her here, in her proper place. I'm going to have to find more of those raindrops. They look so "rainy" IRL :)

Come Sail Away

Good morning, everyone. Squigglefly Monday here, so a new card for this week's challenge. This time it's a Masculine Card. Good, 'cuz it was the perfect opportunity to use this gorgeous image "Tall Ship" from their wonderful collection of digital stamps. If you've ever sailed you can appreciate the grace and majesty of this ship and that liberating freedom of being under sail on a beautiful summer's day. It made me very nostalgic for a time in my life when I enjoyed being out on the waves with a friend or two, music blaring and wind at our backs. I've tried to convey that spirit here.

I used Cuttlebug EF Divine Swirls, lightly distressed, colored the ship with Midnight Blue glaze pen and coated the Copic-colored ocean with Crystal Effects. IRL it really glistens like water! The baker's twine is from RRR and attached with a small anchor charm.  The stars came from a peel off sheet in my stash.
Hope you can join us this week for the fun You can always pick up some "freebies" if you want, and play along. Looking forward to seeing you there. We have some pretty great DT samples that I think you'll enjoy. Maybe it will encourage you to join in!
Challenge #2: Crazy 4 Challenges  Serendipity, another challenge. Don't do this often but do enjoy looking at all the wonderful cards submitted, so here goes.

Someone's Being a Nag

Okay now, someone out in blogland, and you know who you are, is nagging me to post a pic of the Anniversary card I sent to a House Mouse friend. In order to make "this person" happy, here it is. Love this image and hope it satisfies Eve (oops, I mean the nagging lady!)

I forgot to take a pic of the inside before I sent it, but it's just some nested Nesties with Happy Anniversary in the middle.

I LOVE Cupcakes!

Especially when they're as yummy looking as these - and it doesn't hurt that they're the design inspiration over at Cupcake Inspirations this week.

The flowers, butterflies and sprinkles of silver shot inspired me to make this blue card featuring Tilda with Flowing Hair. Butterflies just seem so right for springtime, early summer cards. Almost as perfect as the sugar variety on the cupcakes (except you can eat those! yum). So here's my take on blue cupcakes. Hope you like it.

She's colored with Copics, DP from DCWV Citrus Stack, Prima flowers, MS butterfly and leaf punches. The bling and doily are from my stash, as is the polka dot butterfly. Her basket is overflowing with FlowerSoft petals just because I like them! It really is fun to be a kid again and get your fingers all gooey, sticky with glue. I'm sure you all remember those days. The more mess you make, the more fun it is. or maybe that's just me?

June (Tilda) is Busting Out All Over

Okay, I give up. The months are flying by much too fast and here it is, June already. Tilda's ready and so happy to see summer again. Vacation, sunshine, tumbling in a field of Flower Soft blossoms and just enjoying being a little girl with nothing more on her mind than having FUN!! The embossing folder from Cuttlebug's Asian collection seemed perfect for the background, as did the Petaloo blossoms  The RRR ribbon was so pretty, I'm sorry I had to cover so much of the pattern with the flowers, but I'm going to leave well enough alone for now. I'll just have to use that ribbon again, which is a great excuse to make more cards don't you think?
