Another Year Older

Don't you hate it when your kids just keep getting older in spite of your heartfelt wishes that they would stay forever young? No- it's not nostalgia - it's pure T selfish 'cuz it means I must be getting older, too and I'm fighting it like heck! It's hard to explain that you're only 28 when your pride and joy starts showing gray around the temples. Oh well, maturity has its perks and when I figure out what they are, I'll let y'all know!!
Anyhoo, my tribute card to my son may need explaining. We have a small garden, mostly in planter boxes, and since he took over my farming responsibilities he's been getting creative. Second year now, he planted four (count 'em-four) corn stalks in a 12 inch by 30 inch planter. And such corn you've never tasted! Fresh off the cob, just like my growing up years when we went to the local farms and bought fresh by the bushel. Mother would have the pot boiling, with that little pinch of sugar, while we frantically husked the ears so we'd get the freshest, sweetest corn in the world. Okay, rather than blustering on indefinitely, here's the card. My salute to Farmer Rob and his four corn stalks on his xxxx'th birthday.

I've added his favorite expression, gleaned from his Great Grandfather's impressive collection of Yiddish slang. I actually paid for this stamp, simply because I was so intrigued by the fact that there really WAS a stamp with this sentiment. Too much fun. So, here's the inside. I hope he gets as big a kick out of receiving this as I had making it.

I've entered some challenges, this week.
 Crazy 4 Challenges: Male Card
Cupcake Inspirations: Fall Colors
Make it Monday: Anything Goes
Really Reasonable Ribbons: Keep it Clean

Whew! Definitely a First for Me!

Let Them Eat Pie

It's hard to make Thanksgiving and Christmas cards when the temp is in high 90's and the days are long. However, I had some help from my dear House Mouse friends Mudpie and Muzzy. They're up to their usual - you know - pigging, or should I say, 'mousing' out on one of their favorite treats - Pumpkin Pie! Today they're sharing their holiday treat with the folks over at House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge, Let's Get Fruity. As this card shows, they've certainly taken the expression 'Nothing exceeds like excess' to heart, with gobs and gobs of Liquid Applique whipped cream piled on Amanda's latest culinary treat which is colored with Copics and mounted on Bazzill cardstock and some DP from my stash. The sentiment, well, I cheated and bought a roll of 50 Happy Thanksgiving stickers. I know, maybe the lazy way, but it worked for me! So here they are. I just hope they don't get tummy aches from overindulging, but if so, I'm sure Amanda will do her best to make them feel better.

This is one of a set of holiday cards going to OWH very soon. Have to make early, you know, 'cuz they're going far, far away and I don't want them to miss the boat, so to speak! So, gobble gobble everyone, and happy turkey day to all!
BTW, I would be so remiss if I didn't enter this in OWH Stars and Stamps challenge this week, Thanksgiving  Any Hero card! Wow think about it! Two challenges for me this week - must be some kind of record. But this was too good an opportunity to pass up.

Good Morning Make It Monday!

I'm new to your weekly challenge, and can thank Rene for steering me in your direction. What a fun challenge! Very liberating, to say the least. For my first entry I chose a card using my favorite combo. Plain old red and white, using a JustRite image colored with Copics. If I'm in a slump this is the type card I usually gravitate to, don't know why, I just find it very pleasing to the eye (mine, at least.)  I hope you like it, and now I'm looking forward to next Monday. I've seen some really gorgeous entries this morning and hope I can live up to the challenge. Thanks for letting me participate.

Oh yes, base is Bazzill cardstock, DP is from my digi collection. Nestie scallops are outlined with Sakura Sparkle gel pen, just a touch to give it a little dazzle!

It's Never Too Late

If you're going to tell me Strawberry season is over, I might agree, but, then again, I might not. For me, it's always strawberry season. Shortcake, pie, homemade ice cream, or ice cream topping, or best of all the Queen of the strawberry dishes - homemade Strawberry Jam!!!! So easy to make and sooooooooo delish! So if I love strawberries, it stands to reason that Tilda does too. This is one of her very favorite papers from the Bearly Mine Delicious Delights digi pack. To add to the deliciousness, I've added a strawberry brad to the strawberry red gingham ribbon and adorned her strawberry red pinafore with a strawberry red heart. Okay, before I get carried away, here's my card! Please be respectful and don't drool too much. It's not ladylike, you know :)

Happy Friday, y'all and hope your weekend is strawberry sweet!

Drowning in the Fragrance

Have you ever buried your nose in a furiously blooming Lavender bush? The aroma is to die for and these little meeses are in sweet, sweet heaven! Lots of fun chatter going on over at the House Mouse group, so I had to drop everything and make up this little card to share with some 'gabby' friends :) Kept it simple, used my new lavender Copics and  tied it up with a pink satin bow. Have a great day, all my fellow Mousers (and everyone else), this one's for you. Eve, you were my inspiration as I think you've already guessed! Anyhow, please enjoy.

Operation Write Home Thinking of You

Unfortunately I've had to take a Blogger Break, not by choice, mind you! But - wanted to post a card I made for this week's OWH Challenge, Thinking of You.  I've made some silhouette cards, something a little different from my usual, but I love the look. I really am a CAS kinda gal and this definitely fits the description. Hope it conveys the sense of peace and tranquility that I intended.

The tree is a from the Stampin'Up digi set Forest Friends, I found the girl while browsing through some clipart freebies; paper, ribbon and sentiment are from my stash. I'll be glad to get back to more playing soon - I miss my sticky, ink stained fingers! This doesn't seem natural :)

Daydreamer

Since Tilda told Edwin about her fun fishing excursion he's been wanting to try out his new rod and reel himself, so he hie'd his way to the old fishing hole and settled in for some good old fashioned fun. Well, it looks like he's gotten himself so lost in daydreaming that he's forgotten what he's there for. Now that brings up a good question. His mind is obviously elsewhere, but where is that? Thinking of Tilda and her successful adventure, maybe wishing he'd brought some of that fresh baked apple pie his mom has sitting in the kitchen window to cool, or maybe just thinking how he wished Tilda was there with him. Whatever the case, he's completely oblivious to the little fish nibbling at his line as well as the mermaid who's just found his message in a bottle that he threw in the water last season. Do you suppose he'll wake up in time to take advantage of the situation or will he just sit there dreaming the day, and his opportunities, away? You guess. I made the card so now it's your turn to interpret it!!!
