Good Things Come in Threes

I get to celebrate this great tribute weekend with another Squigglefly Challenge and since it's the third challenge for this team this month, the theme is "Triple Digits". Sound like fun? Well, it was. I used three of my dear little House Mouse stamps along with the "3 Little Cupcakes" digi from Squigglefly. I placed them on the cupcake digital background paper from Bearly Mine and finished the card with Cuttlebug corners, some Liquid Applique "frosting" and a few precious gems decorating the cupcake tray. Oh yes, and the little pink doily framing the Nestie circle. Oh yes, and I moved the little mouse on the right just a bit off center. I thought it might spoil the ambiance if the bird's tail was climbing up Mousie's nose! (Sorry folks, had to mention that, but I'm sure you'll agree.)
Please join the fun and go Triple Digits with us this week. Remember, freebies are there for you to try, and they're pretty darn cute!

Just a reminder. Please don't forget what this special day is all about and give thanks to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in order to keep us safe and free. My card is dedicated to Lt. Cmdr. Francis Thomas, Naval Reserve Security Officer; Commanding Officer on the battleship USS Nevada, December 7, 1941. He was my cousin.
Thanks for looking.

What's Going on Here?

Today I'm sharing a very bewildered Edwin. He's just come to feed a friend he keeps in his little Bug House (all little boys have to have a bug house at one time or another in their lives) and is confused. What happened? Where's his friend? What's this he's found in its place? So many questions. Maybe if he asks Tilda she can help him solve the problem. In the meantime, he doesn't know whether to be sad or glad. I, for one, am glad because he gave me a reason to use this new, adorable image from Magnolia-licious.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this cute new stamp from Magnolia-licious was how would my little guy have reacted to something like this? I'm pretty sure he'd be dazed and confused. After all, he is the one who raises silkworms in our fridge and tomato horn worms in the laundry room!!! What is it with little boys and bugs, anyhow? Only a mother would know :)
There are three Maggie images layered, and my computer-generated sentiment. The inchie stamp is from Lockhart Stamp Co and the butterfly is an MS punch. Coloring compliments of Copic.

Pale, Pretty Pastels

That's the Challenge over at Paper Take Weekly (thanks to Sharon Caudle for the inspiration) so I thought I'd join in with this pretty, simple Thank You card. I just love the DP and the colors. I guess I'm being influenced by the season, at least the calendar says it's Spring, so who am I to argue? Soft and subtle, pale and pretty. I just wish this were true for the families suffering from severe storms, tornadoes, floods, and all the other horrible things Mother Nature is throwing at them right now. My heart is with them, and I'm praying for a kinder, gentler season to come.

Don't you just love this shade of turquoise? I've had the paper for ages as well as the Prima flowers and the SEI buttons. The stamp came in a set I got at Michaels back in the dark ages when I still shopped there. Nowadays all my shopping is done online and Michaels doesn't have a web store. I've often wondered how they manage to stay in business without my weekly wallet draining sprees but I guess they manage :)
Here's hoping for a safer, less stressful week for everyone!

What's Cookin' Good Lookin'

Sunday morning, a bit gloomy, but that's just a touch of "May Grey" which often precedes "June Gloom" here in SoCal. Springtime is a big tease for us, coming and going as she pleases then blossoming into full fledged summer by July. So it goes. Actually, that's my cue to get out in the kitchen and bake up a little cheer and I thought Tilda might like to join me. It seems great minds think alike, although she already has her mind made up as to what she wants for dessert. Who am I to argue with such a cutie? So, cupcakes it will be. Now the only choice is Lemon or Devil's Food? Hmmmm - maybe both?

The DP is Bearly Mine digital from her Volume 1 collection, the flower is an EK Success punch, and I made the brad flower center with my new I-Tool brad maker from Imaginisce. What a fun tool! I love being able to make coordinating brads, and if you look closely, you'll see I did a little stitching around the cupcake layer just for fun. When I took the pic she must have been in the middle of her happy dance 'cuz for some reason her feet are blurry! Well, that's to be expected from little girls. They never, never like to stand still. Must always be on the move or they might miss out on something.
Oh, BTW, the culinary result?
Brownies, of course!

Forgotten Treasures

I've been on a stamping and coloring tangent this past week so of course, I made a big mess in my craft area! I know, you've all been there and done that. But, good news for me! While I was cleaning up and putting away I found an older photo album that I used once upon a time to store some stamped images that I had set aside to be colored another day. Wow. I forgot I had this! It's like having a whole new stash of images just waiting to be made into cards. So, whipping out pens, paper, ink and glue I went to work. I have no idea how I managed to forget this little guy, but I remedied that oversight immediately. Here he is, in all his glory, sending love and smiles across the miles or something like that. For all the tea and coffee drinkers out there in blogland, here's a morning wake up cup for you.

It's Friday morning, so I'll just wish a happy relaxing weekend to everyone and that your local weather cooperates by bringing you lots of sunshine and bright days.

Meet Tilda's New Friend

Today I stepped away from my usual, as requested by this week's Squigglefly Challenge and didn't make an A2 card. I know, that's the norm for me, as most of my cards go to OWH and that's the size they like. I also went really crazy and put a bit, not a lot mind you, a bit of glitter just to prove that I could. Black Stickles on Mrs.Lady Bug's spots and antennae, and Diamond Stickles on Tilda's bow and lace. Oh it feels so good to use some sparkly stuff for a change. But restraint is my middle name (huh? since when?) so I didn't go overboard. I cut my card with the Cricut E Wild Card cart and used Small Offering and Circle of Friendship from Squgglefly on the front, along with some little butterflies from Hero Arts. The inside features one of their Circle Quotes "Friends" and little ladybugs cut from Walk in My Garden, using the border option.
Tilda with Lace Jeans is from the new Magnolia collection "Butterfly Dreams" and she's now my newest best favorite, at least until the next time :)
Please drop by the Squigglefly Blog and see all the cute cards the DT made for this challenge and feel free to play. Remember, if you don't have any SF images, there are great freebies available here. See? You have no excuse not to join in. So, see you soon and hope you all have a wonderful, creative week.

A Bouquet for May

This is a card I made for one of my group swap partners, of course "May Flowers", What else this time of year? At the least it's wishful thinking, and at best, reflects gardens starting to bloom everywhere. The front features a little Lady Bug from Squigglefly, and the slider and back have some cute little House Mouse images. I thought the slider would make a good place to put a Gift Card, maybe Mothers Day?  The instructions for the Flower Pot can be found at SplitCoastStampers and it was a breeze to assemble. I put a little tab on the back so it would stand up and my spring bouquet was done.

The large butterfly is a Spellbinders die and the little one is my trusty MS punch. The flower was also punched out, embossed with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and glittered on the edges with my gold glitter pen. The reason I wrote instructions on the slider was that I made a similar card a while back for my Aunt and it took her six months to figure out that the "flower" slider pulled out! Now, I know my swap partner is much too savvy to make that mistake, but I wasn't taking any chances :)
and now - since it is Strawberry season, I think I'll go swipe one of the berries in our garden before anyone else gets it. I'll just say I don't know where it went - maybe the snails ate it!!! yum, yum.

Tilda's Favorite Party Dress

Spring's the thing and Tilda will never miss an opportunity to celebrate, 'cuz it means she can wear her favorite party dress. So, if April Showers bring May Flowers, that's reason to celebrate, isn't it? Tilda thinks so. Therefore, let's hear it for Happy May, May Day, Mothers Day, Memorial Day and everything else. Hmmmmmmmm, lots of M's in there, aren't there?

Love this little Tilda in her spring outfit and parasol. I think she fits the season so beautifully and she's fun to color, too! Stampin' Up embossing folder, clear phrase stickers, some little jewels and Tilda in her Copic colored outfit.

Happy Squigglefly Morning, Everyone

Today is Monday, my team's turn to produce paper wonders for the Squigglefly Challenge of the week. Very appropriate theme today: Spring Showers/May Flowers. We're having magnificent weather today, with the exception of the Santa Ana winds, which send gusts of  hot, dusty air blowing around, sucking moisture out of the ground with each blast. It's a day when the real flowers have to be carefully watched. I've been known to dash out with hose in hand for an emergency watering on many occasions. Fortunately, that is now my son's job and he's doing just great! He's starting to get an eye for some really nice arrangements and I'm lovin' it. So, to celebrate the approach of summer, I used all Squigglefly images. The daisies are from their Flower Set (I used Flower #2), and Paper Patterns Backgrounds (using Spring Paper). If the layout looks familiar, it is a total CASE of a card made by Lee Conrey which I thought was really stunning in it's simplicity. I added a black velvet bow, made a few minor changes and came up with my own version. Hope you like it and that you'll join us in this May Flowers Challenge. All supplies can be found at the Squigglefly shop and don't forget, there are lots of freebies for download there, too. Please play along, have fun and have a great week.
