Spring Has Sprung

I know how many of you crafters have been yearning for spring, but folks, I have to say, this is pushing it a bit far for me! Today - 82, by weekend - 90!!!!. What happened to spring? Oh well, next week it's going back down to a bitter (lol) 68. My son is obsessed with the garden this year, has grand plans for new landscaping, so it's already a delight to step outside the back door and be greeted by beds of bright new pansies, begonias, phlox and the ever-popular alyssum. Peek around the corner only to find tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, peppers and corn. Corn? Yep, four whole stalks in a 3-foot planter box. Don't laugh. Last year we had the best corn (a whole 8 ears) we've had in years. Iowa, eat your heart out. And yes, the herbs. Basic necessity for any veggie gardener and whether or not they're used for cooking, they sure look pretty just the way they are.
My little House Mouse friend may not have a backyard garden, but she can still admire the new spring wreath she's found. Pretty Squigglefly digital daisy wreath complete with perky bow. The nicest thing about these daisies is that they will never wilt, so she can appreciate them when, once again, winter blows in frosty weather. But, with 90 degrees looming, winter is definitely a long way off for us.

It's hard to tell from the photo, but I cut a second bow and popped it up to give the card a little dimension. Oh, by the way - don't forget to stop and smell the flowers. It is spring, after all.

April's Almost Here and I'm Dancin'

Okay. I just realized I'm never going to be able to catch up on everyone and everything at this rate, so I'll just do the best I can and try to keep hoppin' and postin'. I made this simple card for the SCS Spotted Canary Spring challenge that's going on til the end of the month. Ballerina Tilda, some flowers and butterflies, surely suggests that Spring MUST be on its way!
Used some Prima flowers, Nellie Snellin and MS punches, embossed Tilda's background with Cuttlebug music folder and stamped the sentiment from Penny Black. Oh yes, and just a little bling.

Little Engine that Could

Squigglefly's put me to work again. Boy time flies - two weeks since our DT's last assignment and it seems like yesterday. This week's challenge is "Pushing My Buttons". How fun! The Squigglefly store has the cutest little train image called Choo Choo so I took some old white buttons, heat embossed them with Zing silver sparkle embossing powder and used them for the train wheels. Some pretty fancy rims, if I do say so! My son might like to have these on his sports car (if he had a sports car!) Dream on, son. Think lottery, maybe? The background paper is from the BG Oliver paper pack. Too cute, huh? Used Nestie frames, MS fence punch, and a glittered button for the sun. I hope you'll check out the Squigglefly blog this week, as the DT has really outdone themselves with fantastic button cards. Very creative, ladies, and very special. Remember, you can pick up some Freebies here so you can join in. Or, better yet, make your selection from the enormous collection of images available at the store. There are new images being added all the time, so you're sure to find some that you want (need). Hope to see you at the challenge blog this week.

Tilda's Big Wish

Tilda is longing for Spring, yes, Spring with a Capital Letter. It's that important. My two nieces have their birthdays a week apart very soon and I've got to get working on some special paper surprises for them. At least I have this card done, but I've got a loooooong way to go! Here pretty Tilda is being so patient, maybe waiting to see what her new Easter dress is going to look like? Maybe I can get my sister or aunt to sew one up for her as they're the little girls dresses experts. Maybe I can ask for one for myself at the same time?
I used one of my JustRite border stamps to frame Longing Tilda, with some Prima pearls, Nellie Snellin punched flowers and a lacy Martha Stewart border punch and big pearls from I don't remember where. Sorry I had to use my scanner for this photo as there seems to be a little gremlin who sneaks in and snakes my camera on occasion. Wonder who it could be? No, not my perfect son!!!! He wouldn't dare :) I'm going to enter this little gal in the SCS Spotted Canary Spring challenge. There is a truly awesome prize for the challenge winner.

More Strawberries, Pass the Whipped Cream, Please

Okay, my swap partner received her card so now I can show just how addicted to strawberries I really am!
This was a spring swap using our favorite House Mouse stamps so, if you think you're experiencing Deja Vu, you're not. Just another version, a little fancier, of my post this morning. The mice are joined by some lovely lace from RRR, a strawberry charm and a bunch of doodads to give them some sparkle.

This is how I feel after a good strawberry snack :)

Flowers are paper punched and the sentiments are computer generated. Now that I've pushed the strawberry season to its limit, I'm up for some cherry pickin'. Don't  blame me, it's that time of the year!

Where's the Whipped Cream

Okay, so I'm pushing the season a little bit. Not much, mind you, just a bit, but Daylight Saving Time is here so I have to celebrate somehow. Doesn't DST  mean that spring is close? and what does spring mean but STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE!  Time to pull out the box of Bisquick and make those sweet super-sized biscuits known as shortcakes for this purpose, slather the warm, split cakes with butter and pile on the berries. Now, it's bring on the whipped cream! Oh wait, it's not berry season yet? Well, don't tell that to this little House Mouse who's determined to get her fill one way or the other. Unfortunately in our garden we have to wait till June (sigh) but I can still dream. Maybe Monica can share her pickin's with me. I'd be her BFF if she did!
Don't you love this gorgeous strawberry paper? It's another digi from Bearly Mine's new spring collection Delicious Delights and it's all about berries and cherries. How sweet is that? Monica Mouse is an older HM stamp, Berry Tired, from Stampabilities and she's Copic colored. I heat embossed her outline before coloring so she has a bit of a shine, and added a computer-generated sentiment. Not much in the way of embellies, but after all, it's all about the berries, isn't it?

Not yet, but close

This little owl looks like he's anxious for spring, but, as the card implies, it's still just a dream for most of us. If he'll just be patient a little while longer, I'm sure the season will catch up with us. In the meantime, the Flock Forum at Spotted Canary has a Green Challenge going on and he just had to fly in and leave his addy. He's hoping he can bring a smile somewhere along the way :)

Faith and Begorrah - It's Goin' Green!

Well, it is March, after all, and what does that mean? Why, St Patrick's Day, of course. The day of green beer, green clothes and, best of all, green cards. (No, not the kind the gov't hands out.) Our Squigglefly Challenge this week is Grateful for Green. What green are you grateful for? If not St Paddy's, how about the coming of SPRING? Green, green all around. Who isn't tired of winter yet? You can play along with this challenge, and if you'd like to pick up a Squigglefly image you can go here - or if you'd like a Freebie, go here. No reason not to play and show the world that you're Grateful for Green.

This card is all digital. The sentiment is Squigglefly Happy St Patrick Hat, the papers are from Bearly Mine. I popped on an epoxy rainbow, much more colorful IRL, but you'll have to find the pot of gold yourself. I personally have no idea where it is :)
Have a great week and hope you join us at Squigglefly.

Squigglefly - Deja Vu!

No, you're not seeing double. I've been working on some rather simple generic cards for Operation Write Home and had fun with one of my new Squigglefly Flowers Set digi images. I did some color adjusting in PSP, selected different sizes and came up with these cards. Same song - different verse :)
That's what's so much fun about these digis. There's no limit to what you can do with them. The brown plaid card uses digi patterned paper from Bearly Mine. The blue is from my stash of paper packs. A butterfly, some buttons and a charm to spruce them up, and I'm done. What do you think?

My Green Card

for the challenges at Really Reasonable Ribbons and DoYouStackUp. The stamp is from Hero Arts, Wild Bouquet. The sentiment is a Circle Sentiment digital image from Squigglefly, and the ribbon, of course, is RRR.   The paper is K&Co Poppyseed. I daubed the background a little bit with Memento Cottage Ivy. There, you have it. Very simple, going to Operation Write Home, a generic card, not too frilly. With a background paper like this, I don't like to add too much detail, just highlight the brilliant design of the DP. You should see it IRL. It's gorgeous.

Happy March 1. Can Spring be far behind?

That was a fast February. Here it is, March 1 already and I have a question. Did it come in like a Lion in your neighborhood, or like a Lamb? Well, whichever, I've got it covered. and I hope Mother Nature sits up and takes notice that Spring is due this month. I know lots of you are really looking forward to that so I'm trying to provide a little encouragement with the help of Tilda and her friends. They're just kickin' back enjoying the balmy day, wishing everyone Happy March 1.

Don't they look content?
