The Last Valentine

This was just too much fun. The card for my 8yrold niece who loves my cards and loves Tilda. She's a little dark-haired beauty, too and now she expects to find Tilda on all the cards I make for her. Well, by golly, that's okay by me 'cuz you all know I love Tilda, too. This time I got to use some of my new mini's. They're so cute and petite!  But that's not all. She also expects some kind of surprise on the inside of the card and I try my best not to disappoint. Thanks to the YouTube video suggested by a valued Yahoo group member, I think I've been able to satisfy my Tilda (err ... I mean Zoe). I used clear acetate strips, an EK Success flower punch, and some Sizzix grass to create a flower garden for Valentine's Day. Used digi papers from Bearly Mine and printed the sentiment on the 'puter. I think I've fulfilled all the requirements for a Zoe card from Aunt Sue, so I hope she likes it.

I had to use a little gold spiral clip to hold the card closed - it kept popping open and spoiling the surprise :)

House Mouse Bounce

I couldn't resist the title, the name of this cute little stamp, and I had to resist the urge to add more rhyming verbs - pounce, ounce (where did that one come from?), trounce ... okay, look it up if you have to ;) ...
Well, enough silly and down to business. I've been so busy stampin' and colorin' and plannin' I finally managed to find time for a post. Made this with one of my new HM stamps and if I'm lucky I can make another one before the weekend is over. I have to keep working 'cuz I'm on a new LOW/NO Salt diet and I'm going bonkers. I'm having withdrawals like crazy, to the point where I'm looking longingly at the salt shaker as I fix my morning fruit smoothie! Ah well, all in the name of a healthy lifestyle, I guess, so I'll live with it and grumble all the way - grrrrr.
In the meantime, here's my contribution for the weekend.

Let the Paper Make the Statement

Here's a card I made a while back using BG Kioshi paper pack. I loved this design so much I felt it didn't need much more than a bow and a bit of embellishment - the paper was too pretty by itself. I did use some clear chandelier beads from Magnolia, and ribbon and gem from my stash, to make it look like a bouquet. I like the result, as simple as it is.

It's Squigglefly Time!

Good morning, ladies. Time for our next Squigglefly Challenge this week and the theme is:
Living on the Edge
We want to see some fancy border treatment; let's liven up those straight 90 degree angle borders, okay? Don't have any Squigglefly digital stamps? Never fear, just pop over to the store and pick up a freebie or two and join in. It's fun, a great way to get in the digi spirit, and make new card-making friends. Here's my "edgy" card, featuring Froggy Flowers and a fun sentiment, to brighten someone's day.

CELEBRATE the Day

Oh my, I'm a day late! Hope I haven't thrown a wrench in the works, but I figure "better late than never". You see, yesterday was National Hug Day. I know this because a little "mousie" told me (lol). So I missed the date, but had to share this hug with you anyway.  Please forgive me my tardiness, but I think any day is a good day to share a hug with friends.

HAPPY DAY AFTER NATIONAL HUG DAY

With a Song in My Heart

I can think of so many adjectives to describe this adorable House Mouse and I must have thought of most of them while I was making this card. He is the most joyous, exuberant, exhilarated, boisterous ......well, you get the idea. The temptation to burst into song along with him was hard to resist, but, since I can barely do more than carry a tune, I kept the melody inside my head. You have to agree with me, though, you must smile when you look at him. No grumpy faces allowed here! I dare you to tell me he doesn't put you in a happy place so, if you need a lift, come visit him often.

I kept him as simple as I could, because the image says it all. I hope you agree.

What,s Up?

Another card for the troops by way of Operation Write Home. These busy-body Penny Black hens just want to know what's cookin' on the home front and they're not too shy to ask. They're also not above a little attempted bribery to get what they want, either. Flowers? Balloons? That should work.
Hope all is good and that this card can give some separated family a little something to smile about.

Valentines Day is for LoveBirds

Here's a little digital card I worked on over the weekend, for a change of pace from stamping. I used Squigglefly's Lovebirds image, heat embossed the heart with Red Glitter Zing (love this stuff) and paper-pieced the birds with some  leftover digi scrap paper. The background paper is from Bearly Mine Red collection. My only concession to non-digi was the red hearts and gems, a little gold-plated pearl heart from my stash, and the sweet heart print Really Reasonable Ribbon from their January collection of the month.  Since RRR's weekly challenge requires HEARTS this week, I'm popping over there to enter this card in their challenge. Hope you'll check them out for their great ideas and great products. Happy weekend, everyone, and may you all have an enjoyable, productive week ahead.

BTW .... don't forget to check out the Squigglefly Challenge Blog tomorrow to see what this week's design team has come up with for their weekly challenge. There's some great inspiration there and I sure hope you'll feel like joining in. Sorry, though, you'll have to wait until tomorrow to see the new designs.

Edwin Through the Porthole

As we all know, there are many different things that give us our inspiration, from the shape of a card, to a special paper or ribbon, an image, or, in this case, the sentiment. I thought Dangling Sea Edwin was perfect for this card so here he is, along with the new mini Mermaid Tilda. He may be in a precarious position but he's still optimistic and I guess he's going to make the best of this situation as he always does. The sentiment is from Stampendous, the flourish is a heat embossed Sizzix die, CB Divine Swirls embossing folder and K&Co DP. I colored them with Copics but as usual, I forgot to make note of them. Maybe one of these days I'll remember!

Are You Ready for This?

Okay, Valentine #1 is finished. It was my DT entry for the Squigglefly Challenge of the week, posted on Monday, using the ever-popular Sherman the Sheep, and it was for my 4yrold niece.  So, now it's time for Number 2, for my 10yrold nephew. Too old for Valentine cards, you say? For shame, I think this one will please him greatly. Even if it doesn't, it pleased me to make it. Yes, I laugh at my own jokes, too!  I was inspired by an image used by Snoopy, a Charles Schultz fan in case you didn't know, and when I saw her card I immediately knew what I was going to do. So, Snoopy, hope you appreciate what I've done with your best pal. I tried to do you justice

Hearts, Hearts, and More Hearts

Welcome to the first Squigglefly Design Challenge of the New Year! I'm so excited to be part of this new team, my first effort in case you couldn't tell by my enthusiasm, and the theme for this Challenge is "Put Your Heart Into It". Of course that means, use hearts somewhere on your card and be sure to wander over to Squigglefly and pick up some of their delightful digital images if you don't already have some. I hope you'll all join in on this challenge. If you do, be sure you post your pic on their blog and add the link to your blog or photo album. While you're there, it would be so nice if you'd leave a little love for the DT members working so hard to make this a great challenge. We look forward to seeing lots of fun cards from you this week and in the weeks to come.
I used Sherman the Sheep for my card, intended for my 4yrold niece, who is at just the right age for silly and glitter. It's hard to see, but he's covered with FlowerSoft wool, so he's all warm and fuzzy.

Oh, and of course the DP is digital, too. Bearly Mine has the loveliest assortments and I use them a lot.
............ and here's the inside, cut from Cricut Lacy Labels and Home Accent carts, and heat embossed with Zing Red Glitter EP.........

New Friends

Here's a new card I made for Operation Write Home now that the holidays are past and I'm able to work on some new cards for the troops. He's not a House Mouse but he's pretty cute in spite of it.

I'm working on some birthday cards to send overseas, too, so I'll be posting a few of them off and on as well. I guess I don't have to say that this is one of my pet projects and I wish I could do more. OWH is a great organization and deserving of any time I can devote to it. It's a privilege to be associated with them.

Dreaming of Sunnier Days

I know we're desperate for the rain, and I truly am grateful for the water table filling storms we've been experiencing for the past few weeks, but, darn it, I'm really longing for a little bright sunshine for a change! Just a little, enough so I can get some nice, natural light to take pics of my cards instead of struggling with my scanner.  It's hard enough trying to find card making time in between doctor visits and those lovely unexpected medication side effects that have me drowsing off at the most inconvenient times. Ya'd think Mother Nature might take pity and cooperate just for a while!  Oh well, as they say, "If wishes were horses .....".
I'm determined to get the last laugh, though, so I made a cheery, summer-y Tilda all drenched in sunshine just because I wanted to. So there!

I used BG Citrus glitter cardstock, Prima flowers, and a cute little glitter-covered button from Dress It Up. Copic markers, a pearl stickpin and gingham ribbon from RRR added dimension and the the sentiment is from Stampendous.

SPECIAL NOTE
Please come visit on Monday January 10. Our Squigglefly Design Team is holding our first challenge of the new year and we invite everyone to join in on the fun. I hope my silly card will please all of "ewe." I had fun making it.

Happy Birthday, World

The House Mice know that New Year's Day means BIRTHDAY! so of course, they're preparing a celebration in their own special way. After all, cupcakes are what it's all about and they do know their cupcakes. This is going to be a wonderful House Mouse year, and they hope yours, too, will be filled with new, rewarding experiences, and lots of cupcakes!
