I don't know how many little boys these days romp in the fields with butterfly nets. I know mine was more inclined to grasshopper cages, bug boxes and tomato hornworm houses. I'll never forget the time he gathered up some of those horrible horned worms and insisted on making a home for them in a cardboard box on top of our dryer, While watching TV in the living room one evening, I happened to look down only to see a parade of huge green ugly worms inching their way across the carpet directly toward my poor defenseless bare feet!!!! Those things were bent on terrorizing me and they succeeded. Ordinarily I'm not the screaming type but in this case I made an exception. Needless to say, poor son of mine had to round 'em up, head 'em out and get rid of them
or lose his happy home! I'm not sure he's ever forgiven me for that but at least I'm still alive and breathing, which is more than I can say for the HORNWORMS! In spite of all this, I have forgiven my son and find the illusion of a son with a butterfly net intriguing, if not realistic.
