My Hedgehonk

This is for those-who-I-will-not-name who persist in calling Penny Black's hedgehogs "Hedgehonks".( he-he-he)
I did him a while ago for OWH but I just wanted you all to know that I Love Hedgehonks, too!

First Try at Watercolor

I was playing around with no inspiration at all so decided to try using one of the many aqua brushes I've accumulated over the years but never knew what to do with. So - I took one and used my Memento Dew Drop ink pads to color the daisy stamp on this card. What a surprise. It works! How fun. It's sure no masterpiece but now I have something new to learn. Oh boy, I guess that means more $$$ invested in inks!

Fluttering By

Little House Mouse is getting the ride of his life. This image is just so much fun. I put him flying across the clouds, being chased by more flutterbies, one popped on top of the other at the bottom of the card. HM's ride is glittered with stickles, the sentiment says "Just Flying By". Top Note cutout frame done on Cricut.
FYI: Got a heads up on the Flutterby Wednesday Challenge. Thank you, ladies. Didn't know about this one before but I do now and he's joining in.

Hot Weather - Cool Thoughts

Hot days like this have me longing for something simple, cool and refreshing. It looks like I'm not the only one looking for a cool-off.

Birthday Serenade

This is probably the most special project I will ever do.
My aunt is soon to celebrate her 92nd birthday. Her vitality and energy put me, and anyone half  her age to shame. She travels a lot, is currently on a five-week motor home trip to Yellowstone, Idaho, Oregon and back to Nevada. She sews all the clothes for her 4 and 8 yr old great-grand nieces, cooks and bakes  goodies for family get-togethers, and Christmas wouldn't be the same without her array of home-baked cookies and treasured coffee cakes and stollen. In her youth she was tall, graceful, statuesque and lovely. Her heart's desire was to be a dancer but in those days girls went to finishing school, got married and raised families. No career for her. I guess that's lucky for us because we got the benefit of her domestic talents and caring nature. While life wasn't always easy for my family, she was always there to make sure we had all the best that was available and no one ever went without. She's a special person and I've tried to make a special card to show her just how much we appreciate her.
This is probably the most special project I will ever do.

Button up Daisies

Crazy 4 Challenges has a button challenge this week so here's my version. Actually this is a shameless case of a beautiful card I saw on SCS. I changed the colors, the embellies, and used buttons for the flower centers but kept the same layout. Wish I could give credit, but the artist eludes me. If she sees this, I hope she'll let me know so I can acknowledge her work. The ultimate destination for this card is Operation Write Home, a fun and worthwhile program to make cards for the military. Please give them a look-see if you haven't already.

An Expression of Love

Makes any day a Holiday!
My first chance to use this pretty little Tilda with Bird Cage, so I thought I'd enter her in Scrap Girl/Angie's challenge for Brown and Red, and I put my own special twist on her suggestion of Holiday. After all, doesn't Love make every day a Holiday?
The second challenge in which I've entered Tilda is the Color Create Challenge, Chocolate Pink and White.
Challenges are fun and a great way to see what all you creative folks are up to. I'm so glad to be able to participate occasionally.

The sentiment says "You Put a Song in my Heart"

Wild Card

Been working on some cards for Operation Write Home, and this week their mid-week throwdown challenge is for kids' cards. So, here's a kid's card with a Zoo/Wild Animal theme, just because.

Sunflower Tilda

Here's my take on Sunflower Tilda. My intentions were good, but the pic is fuzzy. On taking a closer look, I realized that, even though I stamped her two days ago, the ink wasn't completely dry and it smeared when I colored her! Lesson learned - from now on I run my heat gun over my images before I color. Used Memento ink, Stampin'Up paper and Prismas with OMS, same as usual, but this was the result. Funny, I wonder why? I'm going to have to go back to the drawing board and re-do precious Sunflower Tilda, paying more attention this time! I guess you face a new challenge every day and today this was mine.

Dear Mouse Friends

I finished this simple little House Mouse note card today and I think I want to make up some more of these - they make cute little notes to send for all the Just Because reasons that have a way of cropping up. I cut the big flowers out of some DP I had. Sure hope I can replace it cuz I love the paper and cringed at cutting it up, but I bit the bullet for the sake of the card! The flower centers are some little snaps I got from Basic Grey, I think. I have to resolve to keep better track of my supplies so I can give proper credit to the people who go to so much trouble to make these great products for us. If it weren't for them, I probably wouldn't know what to do with all money burning holes in my pockets!

Ballerina Tilda

Made this tent card with Ballerina Tilda dancing her heart out. She's all shiny and glittery, if only the camera picked up the sparkle! I just loved this soft, elegant paper and wanted to do something different with it. Some simple Prima flowers, Sizzix flourishes and Nesties, along with the little clear half-gems, and that's about it. Would this be considered kinda vintage look? I'm still experimenting, as you can see.

My Best Friend

I have a young friend who will not, under any circumstances, be separated from her beloved Eeyore. He is so bedraggled and worn that her Grandmom has to continually sew new clothes for him in order to hold him together, but that doesn't matter to her. He's her binkie, her blankie, her best friend all in one floppy  blue donkey. So this is for her, with love

Happy Birthday through the Looking Glass

A card I made for a friend fits two challenges this week. Stamptacular Sunday wants Aperture cards and the Just Cards group is looking for birthday cards. So, here goes. It was fun to make and made good use of my Expression for the sentiment and the cute little bird on the front. Once again, I'm trying to use up some of my older supplies (to make room for new stuff, of course.) The stamped image on the inside uses lots of bling even tho it doesn't really show up in the pic After the holilday weekend I have to get moving again, so I'll be off to work on some new stuff while waiting for the serviceman to install my NEW STOVE! Yippee! Finally, something I can bake with instead of burn with. First on the list, Blueberry Pie for the son. Must remember to pick up some vanilla ice cream

Sweet Tilda

I love cherries, right off the tree. I grew up  snatching them from the branches of our backyard tree - oh how I miss that! But I found the next best thing, this delicious paper. It makes my mouth water just looking at it. How fitting for a sweet little Tilda, dreaming cherry dreams. I cut, heat embossed, and popped one cherry bunch in the middle, tucked the sentiment into the side and plopped Tilda on as the finishing touch. I hope she enjoys the cherries and I hope the Challenge at Cute Card Thursday does too!
